ABOUT US

About the owner

My name is Andy Jones and since I was a kid I have been involved in woodworking and the trades. It started when my dad used to do home improvement projects at our old farm house and expanded into helping him with his manufacturing business. When I was in high school, I took countless building trades classes and participated in Multiple community projects. From that my passion grew. In 2009 I earned the rank of Eagle Scout by renovating the outside of a storage building used by the Germantown American legion post.

After graduating high school, I went and pursued a degree in the trades at fox valley tech where I took wood manufacturing and graduated top of my class. During this year long program I learned that anybody can build one of a kind furniture but it takes a real craftsman to be able to make one project twice that you can interchange parts from one to the other. I use the skills that I learned in everything that I do. Whether it be a custom made piece of furniture or a deck on the back of a house.

When I completed school, it was off to work! I worked 6 months at a commercial cabinet shop and found out that that was not the fit for me as I love to be outside and have a change in scenery. The next job that I took was working for a custom home builder out of Colgate, WI. It was at this job at the hands of a old school craftsman that I learned how to build a house from the ground up. We would dig the footings, pour the footing, lay the block walls, rough in the framing, build the roof structure, install windows and doors, install the siding, hang kitchen/bathroom cabinets and install all of the finishing touches to make the house a home. This job taught me so much more than I can even explain. I learned that in order to get a quality project all aspects of the project are dependent on each other.

After 4 years of working for the builder, it came time to look for a job that had better benefits. I took a job at a landscaping/tree service. I was in charge of the carpentry division where we did outside landscape carpentry. This job was nice but eventually it led to me being put in charge of the forestry division. In this position I learned more about trees and how to identify them and safely remove them. While working this job I saw all of the waste that was being created by the tree service and thought there could be a better use for all of the trees we cut down. At this point in time I brought a sawmill and started cutting up all of the trees to use in remodeling the house that my boss was in the middle of remodeling. After a 2 years of working weekends running the sawmill and weekdays of running the tree service and being under appreciated for the long hours that I was putting in at the tree service I decided to go off on my own and do what I loved which is working for myself.

Thought the many jobs that I have had I have learned how to do lots of things and how to make it so that if someone has to come in after me and do work they are not getting shorted in the quality of work that the are able to complete because of mine.
